TRAVEL AND VACATION NEWS...

On our home page, we display a listing of vacation rental announcements from our members. (The listing is an RSS news feed and as such, offers some benefits to you. Click "how to subscribe" and "how to get alerts" in the menu above for more information about that.) Each member has one spot (we call it an "item") on that listing ("InTheNews" feed) which they can update whenever they wish to make a new announcement. So you see the latest announcement from members when you view that listing feed.

What happens to the previous announcement when an update is posted? If the member is using our Autologging feature, it is not discarded. You will find it at the top of another feed ("log feed") that is dedicated to that member, with the older announcements below in chronological order. Items are automatically posted on the log feed whenever items are posted on the InTheNews feed. So that top item on the log feed is the same as that member's item on the InTheNews feed.

Keep in mind that as time passes, older announcements may no longer be relevant (for example, a special discount for a vacation home may have expired). Finally, to keep things manageable, an upper limit of the number of items allowed on each member's own log feed is imposed, that limit ranging from 20 to 200 depending on the member's Membership Level.

In summary, every member's most recent announcement shows on our home page InTheNews feed, and with the Autologging feature, a history of each member's announcements, up to a limit, appears in that member's log feed.
